Co-Co Shaker - multicultural musical instrument

Co-Co Shakers come from the Ga Tribe in Ghana. They are made from small locally grown gourds which are cut in two and filled with stones and seeds. Co-Co Shakers are used in the traditional dance and drum music 'kpanlogo' providing a flowing high pitched rattle.

The gourd from which they are made is grown on the ground like a pumpkin. The co-co shaker is round like a ball and has a small loop for holding the instrument. Just shake to make a sound!
